Dear Debate Coach:
On behalf of the Apple Valley Forensics Team, Parent Boosters, and the Apple Valley American Legion Post 1776, we would like to invite you and your team to attend the 18th annual Minneapple Debate Tournament on November 7 and 8. Last year, 40 schools from twelve states and over 230 Lincoln Douglas debaters in three divisions joined us. We would be honored to have you be a part of this event.
The strong tradition of both the Forensics Team and the debate tournament has made the Minneapple one of the largest debate tournaments in the Midwest. The Minneapple is committed to providing an efficient tournament with strong competition as well as superior judging. The Minneapple exclusively offers Lincoln Douglas debate. We offer three divisions so that each division is particularly competitive for the debaters' level of experience. The Minneapple is a Tournament of Champions qualifier at the quarterfinal level.
We are pleased to continue the Golden Apple award. This award recognizes the outstanding achievement and dedication of an individual in the debate community. This may include a head coach, assistant coach, judge, tab room worker, friend of the debate community, etc. Please submit a nomination with your registration form. Former recipient, Wayne Brinton, retired AVHS Head Policy Debate Coach, will once again be assisting with tournament management. Please be sure to greet Wayne!
On this site, you will find general information regarding tournament rules, schedules, and hotel information (Please note, the hotel block is only held until October 17th). To register for the tournament go to joyoftournaments.com. Registration will open there sometime the last week in September. The registration deadline is October 20th. Additionally, if you are an out-of-state school and are in need of housing for debaters, we will try to accommodate you by providing a night's stay in the home of an AVHS debater. Please place your housing request by October 17th, and we will honor as many requests as we can. We look forward to seeing you at the Minneapple!
